Love conquers everything .. and this is certainly the case for our little David.
A year old in December David was diagnosed with Down Syndrome last October at a specialist centre in Kalifi, but he is making such raipid progress we are wondering if this is the case.
At that time Mama Sue and Uncle Billy were concerned that he was so floppy and was way off reaching any of the milestones a baby of his age should, but he's now making up for lost time.
The twice-daily exercise routine he enjoys, drawn up from advice provided by the Downs Syndrome Association in the UK, is really paying dividends. He's forging ahead now, sitting upright, trying to stand and crawl and copying actions and sounds.
He's such a good natured little boy, always smiling, and at the moment, chewing on his fingers, as his teeth are coming through so fast!
I had a lovely time playing with him yesterday, he loves a good tickle and squeals with delight. It gave me such pleasure to see him wave back to me as I left the baby banda to get on with my work.
David came to us abandoned by his HIV positive, drug and alcohol-dependent mother and was in a very frail state. So it is no surprise that he has his problems.
Mama has vowed that all her children will be the best that he or she can be.
David is getting all the help he needs to ensure thsi will be the case.
