Warm welcome at Fylde Soroptimists

The lovely ladies of Fylde Soroptimists were the first to snap up our Happy House cotton bags, which had arrived from the suppliers just hours earlier.
Mama Sue and Elizabeth, who were guest speakers at the club's meeting at the Glendower Hotel, St Annes, asked if they could take some along to test the market.
The ladies loved them, eagerly exchanging £5 for a bag - and helping to make a big difference to our family in the process.
Fylde Soroptimists have been good friends to Sue and the Happy House for years, since 2007 when Elizabeth, then Women's Editor of the Blackpool Gazette, invited Soroptimist Linda and Sue, both inspirational in their own right, to meet.
Since then the Fylde group has helped in many ways and have become good friends. Linda is club president this year and  she generously nominated the Happy House as one of her charities to benefit from the year's fundraising.
She presented a very delighted Sue with a cheque for £500.
The ladies enjoyed hearing from Mam about how our family has progressed. Mama , as always, spoke with passion about her work and her children.
Sue and Elizabeth also undertook a very daunting task during the evening - judging a competition for cakes made from Fair Trade ingredients. It was a difficult, but delicious task, as they were all excellent.
In a very close run race, Sarah Wood took the prize!
Thank you ladies for a lovely evening, for your kindness and for giving our Happy House bags the thumbs up!

                                   Bags of love ...
You will be able to carry your love for our family around with you in the shape of a lovely recycled cotton bag featuring our eyecatching Kenyan sunset logo.
The bags will be on sale at all Happy House events and at, from late March, the Happy House for a minimum donation of £5.
They have long handles making them really easy to use are handy for everyone, and will make nice presents for friends.
If you are coming to the charity night and want to reserve your bags please email Elizabeth telling her the number you require: elizabethgomm@childrenofwatamu.net
We will, after the charity,  be selling them by mail order. But first we have to price up post and packaging ... right now they're hot off the press!
