My name is Baraka and for my second video from Watamu I am taking you to visit a fashion supply shop. There were lots of different things like bags that were made of different materials and of different colour. There were shoes made of different materials, many of them using beads ,and which are very popular from visitors to Watamu from Europe and other parts of the world. There were also skirts, dresses, and other beautiful things. Watamu is a beautiful place. with a soft breeze, and visitors who come often want to stay and never go back to Europe or the UK. Our Happy House Mama and Papa have stayed and built our Happy House home and school - we are so glad that are here and have given us a home.
The timber is used make things and the
leaves are used to weave baskets and other things and also for thatch for roofing houses.
The tree also produces fruit which is very
good to eat and each coconut contains milkwhich we like to drink.
But there is also another by-product of the
coconut tree – alcohol.
It is dangerous to our bodies because it is
so strong and harmful. The sap is tapped
from the tree and it ferments into almost raw alcohol very quickly. It is
dangerous and can make you very ill or even kill you if taken in large quantities.
I went to visit the barber’s shop for my video, writes Stephano. I have visited the barber to have my hair cut and he has many things there. There is spirit, hair clippers, oil etc. He uses the oil on the clippers which he uses to shave heads to the style wanted. The spirit is applied to the head to stop the outbreak of rashes. There are many barbers shops in Watamu and they are all much like this one that I visited.
When we went to explore Watamu we saw many different things. I enjoyed looking at the clothes on sale - shirts, shorts and many other things in many colours. Our Mama Sue has taught us to take care of our things and the things around us at home at Happy House, so we do not break or waste them. We thank Mama and all our sponsors for all the things that we have. In Watamu there are a lot of shops selling food, clothes, timber, shoes, baskets etc. There are fruits like banana, mango and orange. There are a lot of interesting things that we would like you to come and see Our Mama is loving and caring, we love her and we will always love her.

My
name is Baraka Mkutano. I am 17 years old. andI live at Happy House.I am in
class 8 at Happy House School. In our series of videos by the boys I chose to visit a carpenter's workshop at Richland where beds and other furniture is made. We have got a carpenter by the name of Uncle Charo working in his workshop here at Happy House, he has made all our beds which are very comfortable and also makes chairs and desks for the school. Visiting Richland. I learnt a
lot. The items made there are mainly made
from hard wood. These include chairs, beds, stools an, doors and window frames. I would like to welcome you all to Watamu more of the work done by
the men here . Carpentry is one of the popular jobs done by men here, If you can't visit Richland, come to Happy House and see our workshop. We would have a great welcome for you.
When we boys went out to explore and to make videos, I went to one of the shops where there were things made of papyrus reeds, writes Evans.
The reeds are gotten along a riverbank and people use them to make very things that are used in the community.
Inside the shop, were many different kind of things for me to admire. They looked colorful and attractive.
We had all sort of things like dustbins, lampshades, drums, shakers, baskets and many more.
We all had a nice time and we enjoyed our visit. How I wish you come and see these things for yourselves one day!
By going out on these visits we kids are learning some skills that may lead one of us to be a journalist. We thank our lovely mama for this wonderful opportunity that could open a window in the world for one of us.
