With so much sand about, there is always something that needs to be swept up and brushes, made out of makuti palm, need replacing frequently.
Making the brooms is a traditional craft, and Mr Athuman has been showing our older kids how it is done.
In a practical craft lesson he demonstrated exactly how they are constructed as the children followed his step-by-step instructions.
They took to it immediately and the boys decided they would taken on the role of making all the brushes we need themselves.
