I love science... by Margaret

Today's junior blogger is Margaret who enjoys her lesson, but finds one subject every exciting indeed.
"I am writing for you a blog about my favourite subject.

My favourite subject is science. I love it very much.

Of all subjects I chose to love science because it may make me to become a doctor or a scientist.
I always dream of becoming a doctor or a scientist in future.

I am good in science.

My science teacher teaches us very well and at the end of the year I always get 88% to 99% and am always happy.

My science teacher is called Madam Russell ,she teaches us very well and I will never forget her teachings .

Super Saturday

Everyone looks forward to Saturday!
Mama, Papa and the kids, all on a day off, enjoy some real family time together chatting over their week, sharing hopes and challenges, and just chilling out and having fun together.
Papa is always ready to play a game with the kids on his iPad and volunteers enjoy getting to know the children out of school.
Auntie Pauline, who leaves next week, says having another Saturday is a bonus.
And if it is anything like last week, it will be a day to remember.
"I had the most amazingly wonderful day. David recognised me and climbed on my knee.
 He was filthy. Don't think I have ever seen a child so dirty anywhere in the world. He looked like a coal miner only brown dust instead of coal dust!
Scott and Laura got ice cream for the children and Laura plonked Esther on my knee to eat hers. It was nearly as big as she is I thought she'd never get through it but she did.
She gnawed away and her grip was like a vice when I tried to turn it round for her.
A good bit dripped on my trousers, I wouldn't have been surprised if the restaurant we later went to for lunch said you're not coming in here.
 It's lovely having read the blog and being able to say something relevant to the children.
At lunch I spent some time with Sue  which was really special as I got to know a little more about how the Happy House ticks and some of the challenges Sue faces.
 I must tell you this little story. In Happy's birthday present bag was a Barbie. When I asked her the next day what her present had been she said , a doll like you! I've never been compared to a Barbie before - it must be the hair colour!
Everything here is just so magical."

Before leaving  to travel home to Royal Wootton Bassett, Scott and Laura Webster found time to give a bit of dog training advice to our Happy House staff, who are putting our pups Big Al and Polly through their paces.

Scott also  presented a cheque  to Mama, Auntie Rose and Uncle Billy for £285 to the Happy House on behalf of his golfing friends at South Cerney  golf Club ,which was raised at their Christmas Dinner through a raffle and cake auction.

Many thanks to everyone at South Cerney for their support and generosity. Every penny you raised will be put to very good use indeed and will help make life better and brighter for our children..

Auntie Susan goes on tour!

 It's lovely for Jane to have two "aunties" visiting at the same time.
Pauline Royle,  from Carelton, near Blackpool, is now in her second week volunteering with our family, while Susan Sadler, who lives in Lytham St Annes, arrived on Tuesday.
Two two "aunties" have become friends through sponsoring Jane and both are busily enjoying helping out in school.
Susan was keen to help our family by buying groceries and went shopping to local shops with Uncle Isaac.
She very kindly bought soap powder, oil, sugar, beans and other essentials to help towards our weekly housekeeping.
As he also had to go to the bank, Isaac  gave her a trip around "downtown Watamu" and, maybe, even Timboni "In" and Timboni "Out"... and eye opener for any visitor!
Enjoy your week with our family Susan and thank you from everyone for your love and support.

Magic the man!

 We know that magic is everywhere at the Happy House, but it doesn't often appear in person!

Rose,Velma, Christine and Billy

Magic, the animation manager at Turtle Bay Hotel called in to see our family.

A very keen gardener, he has supported us over the years bringing plants and with gardening advice.

But on this visit he came in to put us all through stretching and breathing exercises ... a bit of gentle and relaxing keep fit,

Everyone took part, and loved it and Mama was thrilled that she could join in too. Thanks Magic.

School report: Testing time

Today, we have our weekly Happy House School report from manager teacher Madam Rose:
 After three weeks back in school it was time for our children here at Happy House to show what they have learnt in class.

End of month exams took place last week in primary school and our pupils worked very hard,

In the KG section we have been pleased to welcome a new volunteer, Auntie Pauline.

Auntie Pauline, from the UK,  has been a teacher but is now  retired.

The children really enjoy her sessions and benefit from her experience and her skills.

Milan makes magic and Jack meets his challenge

Our fabulous friends at GetFIT, Milan, raised  € 874.50 with their Christmas swap event and raffle.
Susanna Gregorio, whose husband Livio Leardi is founder and CEO of the GetFIT chain of fitness clubs, said the the event succeeded in bringing people together in a festive, fun environment with special classes with instructors in costume and Christmas music. In peak hours, there were juices, fruit and snacks.
"The event has made everyone happy: members, guests of members and staff ," she said.
The raffle was a big success and the swap brought together those who wanted to join in an auction for unwanted and pre-loved items.

"On the last day, we concluded the two-day festival with aperitifs for members and guest," said Susanna. 

Thank you to everyone at GetFit for once again pulling out all the stops to raise money for our family.

Well done Jack
Many congratulations to Jack Howard,10, who not only completed his first triathlon, in  25 minutes 11 seconds , coming 40th out of 240 under 16s youths and 13th in the under 12s category, despite being one of the youngest competitors.
Jack, taking part in the Gems Junior Triathlon in Dubai, enjoyed it so much he now wants to do another one 

Jack took up the challenge because he wanted to raise money for the Happy House and set up his own JustGiving page which has reached in the region of £800 !
Chris said: "We have all been very humbled by the donations people have given for the kids  and  it is wonderful to see that people do care about others whilst giving fantastic support to Jack , whom is overwhelmed by the support .
" Jack has  every day reposted his page and checking on the tally."
They are still to add up a final total as he has some more last minute donations to add.
Jack  would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported him in Dubai and the UK, including is football Go Pro Academy which is run by  ex-Manchester United player Kirk Hilton.
And all Jack's Happy house friends want to say thank you to him and to let to you know all the kids were all eager to to know how you had got on.
