Play day

Music, drama and lots of fun has been on the timetable this week as our kids have been getting a chance to discover their talents helped by students from Lytham St Annes High School.

The volunteers, led by teacher Nathan Spacey, have been helping the kids get ready for a little show they will put on today for Mama Sue, Papa Dave, staff, teachers and the smaller children.

It will be a real highlight in a busy and exciting week.

 

The big, big birthday!

All our Happy House friends are invited to join our Big, big birthday party on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Hotel Sheraton, Blackpool.

This very special party to celebrate the second anniversary of the Happy House is in place of the usual charity night in November, and Sue and Dave hope to be joining us to make it even more special.

We'll be having all the usual fundraising action, plus a few extras, and it will be your chance to join a "family" celebration of all we have achieved together.

Please make a note in your diary now to ensure that you will be able to travel to Blackpool for what we know will be a party to beat them all!

 

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

Not these little piggies! They seem more than happy to cosy up to the wolf as they rehearse the trdaitional English folk tale for a playlet to be performed tomorrow.

The visiting volunteers from Lytham St Annes High School have taken along all the props they need to make it an eye-catching production and we all know how enthusiastic our teachers and kids will be to make a show to remember.

Hope someone makes a video, with a guest appearance from our own "Elton John",  it's going to be a concert we'd all like to watch!

School's out .. in the bandas

Visiting students from Lytham St Annes High School, Lancashire, are having a fantastic time working with our kids at the Happy House  Nursery (as these pictures of them enjoying a class in the outdoor bandas show)

The group led by teacher Nathan Spacey are dividing their time between the Happy House Nursery School and other schools in the area.

Their busy schedule will see them taking lessons in several schools this week before a week of sightseeing and safari next week.

 

A lasting smile

A chance meeting with Sue and Dave led student Clare Mullins and her friend Arturs Sinelnikovs to discover the Happy House.

Students at St Patrick's College, Carlow, Ireland, they are travelling around Africa and Clare is thrilled they found our Happy House and has made up her mind to help with fundraising and raising awareness when she gets back.

"These children are the most beautiful innocent creatures I have ever met.

" I have honestly never met children so content and willing to learn as these, I wish that some of the kids where I come from were like these. They are bright and accepting, and get on with each other so well.

"Considering the short time these kids have been at the Happy House you would think Sue had spent her life working with kids.

"Sue and Dave are a credit to society.

" These children are so easy going and deserve nothing but the best, when other children all over the world take what they get for granted these children were simply happy to play and laugh outside with the bubbles we brought them!

"They put a smile on my face for the week!"

Clare added: " I have some previous experience with charities and fundraising in Ireland but have been looking for a place in Africa deserving of some help and I can think of no one better than the Happy house kids.

"I have a passion for helping people and after meeting these kids I am looking forward to helping them."

Hello and goodye

The Happy House family held a special Kidz Club to welcome a party of volunteers from Lytham St Annes High School, Lancashire, and also to bid farewell to Sandra Foulkes, her husband and friends, who have spenta  fantastic few days working with the kids.

The Lytham students, accompanied by teacher Nathan Spacey and his mum Carol Spacey,  are Jordan Rumley, Daniel Tonge, Rachel Buckley, Ellie Thurwell and Olivia Bone. 

They took planes to make with the kids and Jordan and Daniel soon had an aircraft construction factory up and working with our eager boys.

Sandra, her friend June and  Carol, made necklaces and bracelets from beads with the girls.

Some  of the visiting students had a go at hula hooping and everyone shared sweets and biscuits so a good time was had by all. 

The Lytham party, who will be volunteering over the next week, will back at the Happy House tomorrow.

Sue says: "Lytham are with us on Tuesday and Friday they will be doing art drama and music. I have arranged for them to visit other schools in the area.

"On Friday we have to put a presentation on education officials, all the local schools will be entering, so Lytham will be a great help  to our teachers in rehearsing the children.

"On Saturday we are all going to the beach."

Sue added the picture of the toddlers lining up at the door: "It was windy and showery so they had to watch from a distance."
